The department of Preventive and social medicine was started since inception of Government medical college, Nagpur. Each year department of preventive and social medicine trains 200-800 undergraduate (UG) students and seven postgraduate (PG) students. Along with UG and PG teaching department is also involved in patient care through rural health training centre (RHTC), urban health training centre (UHTC), anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) clinics, immunization clinics, sex and marriage counselling centre, training of medical teachers for research methodology, teaching technology and planning, implementation and evaluation of many national programs.
